Originally settled in the mid-1600’s, Greenpoint would later become famous as a ship-building center. Not only was the Civil War battleship The Monitor built here, it was also the birthplace of Mae West! Greenpoint holds a rich trove of both row and freestanding housing and intact churches. Pride of ownership here translates into buildings maintained for the most part, in their original shape. Proximity to Manhattan and Williamsburg have made Greenpoint a recent destination for young professionals and artists purchasing row houses and loft spaces. The waterfront area has recently been rezoned and will see a host of new residential developments coming onto the market in the near future.
